Hands up if you were looking forward to writing your 'q' post?
I suspect not many hands were raised. I was certainly not the most eager of beavers.
So, as I was in the shower this morning, angrily mumbling possible 'q' topics to myself (queen, quintessential, quotations, quinoa etc.) and being thoroughly dissatisfied with all of them, I suddenly had one of those rare genius moments (they're brilliant aren't they?) and knew exactly what I was going to write about.
Now, when I say 'I knew exactly what I was going to write about' what I actually mean is 'I realised that I could get away with writing very little and letting others do all the work'. Genius.
Let me explain.
Over the last two and a half weeks I've really enjoyed visiting as many different blogs as possible. I like that I'm starting to recognise some of your names and be able to associate them with your blogs. I feel like I'm kind of making new friends through this challenge (albeit friends who are far more talented writers than myself, who I've never met before and who all seem to live on the other side of the pond). Anyway, I'm enjoying this sense of community so much that I wanted to incorporate it into a bloglet somehow.
Basically I thought I would kick things off by asking a question. Your job (if you would like to take part) is to answer that question in a comment and leave a new question of your own. Simples.
Bearing in mind that the most comments I've ever had on a single bloglet is 6, this whole endeavour may fall flat on its face, but I'm optimistic. Feel free to come back and answer more than once!
(Also, quick note, if anyone is reading this who isn't taking part in the A to Z challenge, please don't feel like you can't join in: the more the merrier!)
Q: What is your earliest memory?
my earliest memory: I think I was about 2 years old and I remember sitting on a rug and I wanted a toy out of my reach. I was a lazy kid. Could've stood up and got it myself but I got my brother to get it for me ;)
ReplyDeleteQuestion: If you could spend a day anywhere in the world, where would it be?
My earliest memory: I was 3 in the winter of 1972 and lived in Waynesboro, GA (in the lower eastern part of the state). We had a remarkable snow storm that year that dumped more than a foot of now on us. I have a vivid memory of struggling through the snow back toward the house, my feet and hands frozen, crying. My mother stood in the doorway encouraging me to just keep going.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if this is my earliest memory, but it's one of my most complete memories.
If I could spend a day anywhere: My day would be spent on an adventurous road trip with my husband and four children. We would make spontaneous stops at random roadside attractions.
Question: What would you refuse to touch with a 10 foot pole?
Lucy
My earliest memory is my sister Wendy's 6th birthday party, which would make me 2. I can be pretty sure of the ages, because back in the day (1960s) you didn't get to have so many birthday parties and my Mum always says that was the last one Wendy had. I was sat in a BIIIIIG armchair, so my feet stuck out in front of me (shiney shoes)in my best dress and felt shy of all my sister's friends.
ReplyDeleteIf you were an animal, what would you be? (And why?)
Great answers! Thank you for commenting. I'll answer both of yours, seeing as your comments were added a minute apart.
ReplyDelete1. What would you refuse to touch with a 10 foot pole?
- A sleeping crocodile. I don't imagine they're particularly fond of being poked.
2. If you were an animal, what would you be (and why)?
- I'd be a dolphin because they swim really fast, they always look happy and everyone loves dolphins.
New question (by the way, you only have to answer the question asked in the most recent comment - I didn't make myself clear).
What skill would you like to learn which you haven't already?
I'd like to learn to play an instrument really well. Many of my friends are musicians and I really envy them. Unfortunately I don't have any natural musical talent or perseverance so god help my teacher!
ReplyDeleteClever blog, by the way.
Oh derr, I forgot to pose a question. This seems appropriate....what's the dumbest thing you have ever done?
ReplyDeleteSign up to the A-Z challenge?!
ReplyDeleteQ) what's your favourite thing about bunnies?
When they wash their face.
ReplyDeleteQ: What was the last film you saw at the cinema?
My earliest memory is my mother nursing me in the middle of the night while singing me a lullaby. I don't know how old I was, but fairly young obviously!
ReplyDeleteWhat's your favorite odd TV show?
Odd TV show. Like a guilty pleasure? Probably Adventure Time, which is a children's cartoon.
ReplyDeleteQ: What is your favourite present you've ever received?
That's a tough question, so I'm going to cheat a little and break it into two parts (hope that's alright).
DeleteMy favorite present as a child was a doll that I named Jessica that my grandmother gave me for Christmas when I was four years old. I took her everywhere, and still have her, though she's definitely looking so great now.
My favorite present as an adult is actually harder to determine, but I'm going to go with Mastering the Art of French Cooking by Julia Child. My husband gave it to me on our first anniversary (I really, really wanted it, so he wasn't in trouble!) and I think about that every time I use it, so I think 20+ years from now it will be really, really special.
Now my question: What makes you likely to follow, or at least come back to, a blog you visit?
Great answers (I think I would have struggled to pick just one favourite present).
ReplyDeleteIf I comment on someone's blog and they reciprocate, I'm definitely more likely to visit theirs again. I'm also way more likely to come back to a blog if it's easy on the eyes (too many links/adverts/clicky stuff confuse me).
If I find myself going back to a particular blog a lot, and wanting to comment again and again, then I'll probably follow. Also, anyone who has cute pictures of their cats on their blog is almost guaranteed a follow ;)
Q: What book are you reading at the moment?
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson, Frugal Luxuries by Tracy McBride and The Sound of Paper by Julia Cameron.
DeleteQ: Who are some of your favorite authors?
